Auditons and Rehersals

First meeting with cast

we decided that Rodney should be played by a year 9 student. This way we wouldn't have trouble going to the Lower School to find cast or meet up with them. With the help of our teacher we searched through Year 9 Registers. On our system students have pictures next to their name. We have a clear vision of what Rodney should look like. He should be short, white (British), shy and innocent looking. After choosing students Laura and Duniya printed out their timetables and went around the school to speak to the year 9's while I and Naomi met the year 12 students. Thankfully everyone we chose was present. We asked their teachers if we could speak to them outside. We introduced them and told them about our Coursework for Year 13. We then told them that they had been selected to take part and asked if they would be interested which they all agreed to. We asked them if they had any other commitments outside of school time which one student did. This student had football commitments however was willing to let that go and take part in our film, was very keen to take part. Nevertheless we told him and the others to meet up in the Media Studio to properly introduce ourselves, our project, the requirements etc.

Danny should be a typical bully who was tall, big and possibly mean looking. The students we found fitted the part in height and were keen to play this particular part. One student however was a bit unsure but I told him to come to the meeting at break then he could make his decision.
As stated above I and Naomi took the responsibility to look for cast for Mr Vamping and Mr Drakson. We went to the common room and spoke to mature looking students who fit the part.
At break everyone we asked to come came. We introduced the group, the title of our Production and a quick synopsis. I told them that commitment was highly needed and Filming would be from 7am-5pm, (which is what the Year 13 had last year). After this no one left and everyone was still interested. We split the cast up into groups for who would play each part. We then wrote down everyone’s names and contact details and told them that we would be in contact with them very soon and if they felt that they didn't want to take part, to let us know as soon as possible.

Below is a slide-show with some pictures we took for our day of auditions.

Not everyone who we wanted to come came but we had to continue anyway, we gave them scripts and Duniya began to go through it with them, we could see who we thought would get what roles by the individuals acting, confidence and ability to adapt to a character.

Rehearsal

Our second rehearsal took place on Friday 9th October at 3.00pm. All of the crew was here except Laura and from cast were Matt, Danny, Charlie, Billy, Lewis, Fahad, Fahmi and Luke.

Due to the problem with Liam being not able to be Rodney we had to change the rehearsal plan.
While rehearsing we thought it would be best if we changed rolls between Charlie and Lewis as we thought Lewis would be a better Danny than Charlie. With the new cast members we had to inform them all of our Production.
Duniya introduced the crew again and our rolls and how each of us would help them in our production, (which was a new thing). Duniya directed the cast and built a strong relationship with them which would help them become comfortable with the production group and with there roles, in front of the camera and with other cast members. Naomi, as Sound, will make sure all cast members when rolling are heard properly and audibly without any distractions. Me as camera will make sure everything is in frame according to our story board and, alongside other members in Production; help the film to look good on screen. Laura, as continuity, will keep an eye out for mis en scene, lighting and the actors to ensure that there is continuity throughout the film.
Duniya then did a quick synopsis of the film and introduced all the cast to one another. She explained how shooting will be run and costume for all cast which they hadn't yet been told.
We then read through the script again while Duniya read stage directions. Naomi and Duniya acted out parts from scenes to help the actors to understand what we wanted (pictures in the slideshow).
We then on location. We arranged the classroom and went through the scene and re-did parts to perfection. This way we would just need to make sure.

we had another rehearsal which only Duniya from the crew attended and went through more of the script with the group. we had given each character a script and told them to be learning their lines while at home and in spare time they had.
